According to a report by consultancy firm EY, Catalonia once again had more foreign direct investment projects than any other autonomous community in Spain in 2018, with 108 foreign direct investment initiatives, although this was 22 fewer than in 2017. Madrid was second with 82 projects, followed by Andalusia with 30 and the Valencian Community with 19. Foreign direct investment encompasses all investment made by foreign companies in business projects in Spain or in Spanish companies, not counting investment in financial assets.
